Today, as is the case each Sunday here, we will celebrate the Eucharist. The reason for this weekly celebration is that it is the one single place in the course of the Liturgy where heaven literally bends down to kiss the earth, and heaven only kisses that which it loves—deeply.
We celebrate it weekly because it is that one single place that Christ our Lord comes to us in the intimacy of a body broken and blood poured out, for us.
