Dear WE: What do you know of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in America? There is an ALCA church nearby and I have never heard of this group before. Thanks, C Dear C, They are also known as the Laestadian Movement. Though having the name “Lutheran” they hold a “quatenus” subscription to the Augsburg Confession, that is they accept it only in so far as they believe it agrees with Scripture. This view of confessional [non]subscription really makes a confession of faith meaningless as it subjects the confession to the ever changing whim of personal interpretation of Holy Scripture (which the ALCA does regard as the inspired Word of God). Dear Pastor Fisk and WE Team, What do I say to “Lutherans” who believe that Romans 8:28 is a proof text for mysticism? Yes, this is a serious question. Because we “love God, God will use our feelings to speak to us.” They also claim that we cannot use the Book of Concord because it is “man’s interpretation.” Also, I feel alone because there are so few Confessional Lutherans where I am.
