Blood Moon Lunacy
As if you didn’t have enough to worry about with your federal and state income tax forms due on April 15, now there is one more matter to be concerned with. On that day (or actually at night) the moon will turn red, manifesting what many call a “blood moon.” Many Christians see this as heralding a dramatic event in “end times” prophecy. Likely some members of Lutheran congregations who watch premillennial preachers or read the literature of such ilk will be asking their pastors to provide an interpretation of this celestial event.
During the early morning hours of April 15 one will be able to observe a total lunar eclipse. This phenomenon occurs when the sun, the earth, and . . . Read All

+Saint John, Apostle and Evangelist +
27 December, New Testament
Saint John, Apostle and Evangelist, a son of Zebedee, was one of the twelve apostles. With his brother James and Simon Peter, he formed an inner circle among the Twelve: Those three beheld the Great Catch of Fish (Luke 5:10), the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law (Mark 1:29-31), the raising of Jairus’ daughter(Mark 5:37; Luke 8:51), the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1; Mark 9:2; Luke 9:28), and Gethsemane’s agony (Matthew 26:37; Mark 14:33).
He expressed willingness to undergo martyrdom (Matthew 20:22; Mark 10:39) — as did the other apostles (Matthew 26:35; Mark 14:31. . . Read All). However, ancient testimony says that even

The 144,000 of Israel Sealed
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of the sealed,

A War in Heaven – St. Michael and All Angels
Text: Revelation 12:7-12(Listen)
“Now war arose in heaven.” It seems like heaven would be the last place where war would break out. In this world? Sure. But in the presence of God, the Righteous one? Surely not!
And yet the text makes no bones about it. “Now war arose in heaven.” And there’s great comfort in those words, because this is the war of the Lamb and the dragon, the war of the angels of God, the war over you.
“Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back.”
Why this war? What is the reason for this war to break out? If we look . . . Read All
“St. Michael and All Angels: Messengers, Worshipers, Warriors” (Sermon on Revelation 12:7-12, by Pr. Charles Henrickson)
“St. Michael and All Angels: Messengers, Worshipers, Warriors” (Revelation 12:7-12)
Today in the Christian church year is the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. It always falls on September 29, and since this year that date falls on a Sunday, that’s why we’re celebrating this festival today.
Angels, thus, will be topic of this sermon: who they are and what they do and why we thank God for them. And we’ll even get into who this mysterious figure St. Michael is a little bit. So with that by way of introduction, we begin our theme today, “St. Michael and All Angels: Messengers, Worshipers, Warriors.”
First of all, we should explain just who angels are, their nature, what kind of . . . Read All

The “Broken” Natural Knowledge of God
My Bible class is studying your book, “Broken,” and we already have a
question for you. We recently went over Emo Dan finding God in nature
(Never #1), and your point is that we can only find God in the Bible.
However, someone brought up Romans 1:20, which we take to mean that
God has revealed himself to us through nature so that everyone is
without excuse, even those people who have never heard the Gospel. Is
it true to really say that God can only reveal himself through the
Bible?
Dear B:
Yes, it is true that God is revealed in nature. And yes, Paul affirms this in Romans 1. Yet, Paul notes how, despite the fact that man
